PASTELMAT is the highest quality cardboard (360gsm) specially developed for pastel techniques. It has a unique, porous, slightly rough surface. Made of extremely thin cellulose fibers layered to create a unique backing.

The PASTELMAT base in most cases does not require securing with a fixative. This means that we avoid the risk of color changes that may occur after using the fixative. Despite the porosity and slight roughness, the paper does not irritate the fingers and does not damage the sponge rubbing tools. PastelMat paper is acid-free and has excellent lightfastness.

It is ideal for all dry drawing media: Panpastel, dry pastels in sticks and crayons, charcoal and graphite. It is also waterproof, making it a good base for wet media, such as: watercolor paints, acrylic paints, inks and mixed media.
